Guardian Profiles
The People Who Carry the Trek. Not the Marketing.
Our guides are not a marketing department. They were chosen through twenty years of relationships, not job postings — and the only profile we publish is the one they review and approve themselves.
Every person who leads an LHJ trek has at least fifteen years of active trail experience on the exact routes we operate.
The CEO — with twenty years inside Nepal's trekking industry — selected them through relationships, not job postings. They have handled altitude emergencies, managed Lukla flight cancellations, and negotiated with lodge owners in three languages. They are the operational foundation LHJ was built on.
What they are not, yet, is a page of polished photographs and invented bios on this website.
Why this page is sparse — on purpose
We will not invent credentials we cannot prove.
Most “Meet the Team” pages in Nepal trekking are stock portraits and invented bios. We refuse to do that. The roster below is real — and the placeholder cards stay placeholders until each guide reviews and approves their own profile.
What we will publish
- Verified trek counts on the routes the guide leads — with year-of-first-summit and total ascents
- Languages spoken at conversational level or above, with regional dialects called out
- Wilderness First Responder certifications and renewal dates
- One specific altitude situation each guide has personally handled — in their own words
What we will not
- Stock portraits or AI-generated headshots dressed up as our team
- Vague phrases like “decades of combined experience” that obscure the individual record
- Certifications we cannot show on request — credentials get cited or they get cut
- “Friendly and professional” copy. Either the guide is on the trail with you or they aren’t.

We turn away ~70% of guide applicants.
Here is what every applicant has to clear before they are anywhere near your roster. Each step is gated — fail one, the conversation ends.

Direct relationship with the CEO or a senior guide
— eliminates ~40% at this stage —
No cold applications. We hire from referral or from years of trail relationships. The trekking industry in Nepal runs on reputation, and we trust ours over any résumé.

Documented trek count on the exact routes
— eliminates ~15% —
Generic Himalaya experience is not enough. If you’ve never crossed Larkya La in October, you don’t lead our Manaslu Circuit in October. Specificity over generality.

Wilderness First Responder, current
— eliminates ~10% —
Lapsed certs do not count. We pay for renewal directly so there is no excuse to let it lapse. WFR or higher is non-negotiable.

Two reference checks with past clients

We call clients the candidate guided in the last eighteen months. We ask specifically about altitude judgment, not friendliness. Friendliness is easy. Judgment is what we hire.
