100 storytellers. One Himalayan journey.

The floods hit parts of Nepal hard, but the country is still open. Walk Manaslu, Manang or Dhorpatan with our guides, share what you find, and help bring travellers back to the villages that rely on them.

Nepal needs visitors, not avoidance.

The recent floods did real damage in parts of Nepal. The news travelled fast, and many travellers cancelled trips to regions the water never reached.

An empty season hits the guides, porters, lodge owners and cooks who earn their living from trekking. An advert won't fix that. Honest stories from people who were there can.

So we're inviting 100 storytellers from around the world to walk our trails and show people what Nepal is really like right now.

01

Nepal is open, and it's much bigger than the areas the floods hit.

02

The people who live from tourism need visitors now.

03

Travelling here responsibly is one of the most direct ways to help.

We won't say everywhere is fine. We'll tell you what's true.

"Safe" is a promise nobody can make about the mountains. What we can promise is to be honest about conditions and ready to act when they change.

We check your route before we confirm dates

Our team checks trail, road and lodge conditions on your route before your dates are locked in. If a section isn't ready, we move your dates or suggest another route.

A guide with you from the first day to the last

An experienced local guide walks with you, and every route has an emergency plan in place before you set off.

You hear it from us first

If conditions on your route change before or during your trek, we tell you plainly and explain what we're doing about it.

Walk it. Create it. Share it.

Some stories only make sense once you've walked them. You can't feel mountain air through a phone, so come and experience it, then tell people what you found.

"Powerful stories don't always come from the biggest audiences."

You don't need a big following. You need a story worth telling to the world.

Great Himalayan Walk is open to established creators and to people who have never posted a travel video. If you've always wanted to be a travel photographer, filmmaker or writer, this could be your first big project.

Three regions. Very different stories.

We chose these routes to show how varied Nepal is, and to send visitors' spending to the villages along the trail.

Flood relief contribution. Part of what this programme earns will go to flood relief. We're confirming the fund and the amount now, and we'll publish both here before the first creator sets off.

Before you apply.

Do I need a lot of followers?

No. Follower count isn't a requirement, and first-time creators are welcome. We care more about your ideas, your commitment and how you'd tell the story. If you already have an audience, tell us about it, and we'll consider that too.

Is it safe to travel to Nepal right now?

The floods affected specific parts of the country. Nobody can honestly promise that any mountain trip is risk-free. What we can promise is to check conditions on your route before we confirm your dates, send an experienced guide with you, and have an emergency plan for every route.

If a trail isn't ready, we'll change your dates or suggest another route. Check your government's travel advice for Nepal before you book too.

When can I go?

You choose. There's no group departure. Most people trek in spring (March to May) or autumn (late September to November), when the weather is most settled. We'll help you pick the best window for your route and the content you want to make.

What will it cost me?

That depends on your support level. Once we've reviewed your application, we'll tell you your discount, anywhere from 20% to the full cost of the trekking package. There's nothing to pay when you apply.

We'll give you a clear list of what is and isn't included before you commit to anything.

What do I have to create or post?

We'll agree a simple content plan with you before you travel, based on the platforms and formats you already use. We ask for honest, respectful stories. Please don't sensationalise the flood damage or pretend it didn't happen.

Do I need trekking experience?

You need to be fit enough to walk for several hours a day, several days in a row, at altitude. You don't need to have done a Himalayan trek before. Tell us your experience in the application, and we'll recommend a route and pace that suits you.

Ready to walk?

Tell us who you are and the story you'd like to tell. It takes about ten minutes, and there's nothing to pay.

  • A real person reads every application
  • First-time creators get equal consideration
  • You choose your own travel dates
  • We confirm your support level before you commit
